Love this Horse equine rescue

Love This Horse Logo
"Love This Horse, Equine Rescue Inc." is a horse rescue specializing in taking in forgotten, neglected and abused Arabian horses from law enforcement seizures, local animal shelters, distressed owners, and from low-end horse auctions.

The rescue really is a family affair, Vera and her daughters Tamarah & Erna, plus a dedicated group of volunteers
bring the rescued Arabian horses into a safe and nurturing environment, where they are brought back to health, are gentled and loved. The majority of the horses that come into the rescue are not trained to ride. Additionally, about 20% or more have never been handled and are not halter trained! Often the rescued Arabian horses are not only unhandled but have been intact unhandled stallions!

When the horses are strong enough; they are evaluated and are halter trained by Tamarah and then are started under saddle by Erna and Vera.
for under saddle training, and if possible, started for a new life as a riding horse.  Erna and Vera are avid endurance and trail riders. Whenever possible, rescue horses that have been started under saddle will compete at endurance rides throughout the southwestern states. Mom and daughter have competed in California, Arizona, Nevada and Utah with the rescued horses that are available for adoption. Erna is one of the top endurance riders for the 2023/2024 season and is planning on competing at one of the toughest 100-mile endurance races in the world, The Tevis Cup, on Love Story who was rescued in 2021 as a completely feral untouched horse.

We have rescued 674 horses and have adopted out 502 horses after rehabilitating and training them.
We have
123 horses in our care at the rescue ranch or in foster homes. (*as of 4/30/2024).

We believe that every horse deserves a job and permanent adoptive home. Some of our horses become great trail, endurance riding, dressage or lesson horses. Others are destined to become therapy horses, helping kids and adults healing from their own deep wounds.  We work hard to take care of these horses, all the while knowing that the horses are secretly taking care of us.

We are committed to diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a vision toward becoming a carbon neutral organization.

As a Right Horse Initiative Partner, our goal is to massively increase the number of successful horse adoptions for Arabian horses in transition, by working to reframe the adoption conversation and to shatter the stigma surrounding horses in transition.
