Adoptable Horses
We are scheduling adoption appointments for the following Saturdays (we add dates further in the year as we know availabilities):
Saturday, February 15, 2025; Saturday, March 1, 2025; Saturday, March 22, 2025; Saturday, April 5, 2025 & April 12, 2025.
How to adopt from Love this Horse:
Please note that not all available horses are featured on our website because we have more adoption applications than available horses to adopt. Thus, when a horse is available, we may already have a qualified potential adopter in our applications.
1. Email us for an application at [email protected] or message us on social media with your email address.
2. We will review the application and reach out to set up an adoption appointment here at the rescue to meet/ride the horse(s) you are interested in.
We ask for a $50 donation for this adoption appointment, payable prior to the appointment via PayPal.me/lovethishorse or Venmo @lovethishorse. The $50 will be applied to the adoption fee, if you find a match.
We try our best to predict which horses will still be available for you to meet when you come for your adoption appointment; however we do not guarantee that the horse you are interested in will be available during your adoption appointment.
Our adoption philosophy is that we do what is in the best interest of the horse. That includes making sure that horses are not held up waiting for adoption appointments. Horses are adopted once we find a good match (see next steps).
4. Come for an adoption appointment.
What to expect for your adoption appointment:
Meet/ride the horse(s) you are interested in adopting that are at the rescue. We are focused on a good rider/horse match because we want permanent homes for our adopted horses. Therefore, we often ask potential adopters to ride our most reliable horse Sharif on trail, along with the horse you are interested in. Then we switch over and we accompany you while you are riding the horse you are interested in. We reserve the right to refuse to introduce or let you ride a horse based on our in-person assessment.
Our goal is to ensure the safety and happiness of all involved. We kindly ask that when you are here, please be understanding of our decisions and responses. We are frequently asked at adoption appointments if there are any other horses available, and why a certain horse is not available for adoption yet. Many of our horses are sanctuary horses or not yet ready for adoption. Some horses may already have a potential adopter, or we know based on our training with the horse that it will not be a good match. Matching involves more than just riding skills. Some horses we have found need specific living arrangements or feed needs to be a successful companion to humans. We strive to share what we can about our organization and all the horses here but remember that the time asking us questions takes away from us helping you find your forever horse during your adoption appointment. For the latest information on all our available horses and horses looking for sponsors, check our website and our social media.
Please do not bring your dog(s) to the rescue without talking to us first. We have rescue dogs at the rescue, and we have to lock them up if you bring your dog(s).
5. If you and one of our horses is matched, we ask you to pay the adoption fee, via check, PayPal (+2.5% for the PayPal fees) or Venmo. This adoption fee is held in escrow until the adoption is finalized.
Being "matched" to a horse means that we have determined from our interactions with you and the information you provided that you meet the requirements to adopt a specific horse.
If you meet a horse that is not quite ready to go home with the adopter, we offer the "Dibs Program". You pay half of the adoption fee of the horse as a deposit. This deposit is refundable pending the completion of his/her training. Once the horse completes training, you come back to ride the horse and we assess if the horse continues to be a match under saddle with you. If the horse is not a match, the deposit is refundable.
Adoption fees are non-negotiable.
6. We will check your references to verify where the horse will live. We will continue conversations with you regarding your adoptee and logistical arrangements for the move.
We welcome pre-purchase exams (PPEs), but they have to be done prior to the adopted horse leaving to your home. We have several veterinary options for PPEs.
7. You fill out the adoption contract.
8. You bring your horse home with you.
If we have pedigree papers for the horse, those will come with the horse.
We have a 30-day-trial period for each adopted horse where the horse can be returned for a partial refund. As mentioned above, we want permanent homes for our adopted horses, thus we want a good match.
We do adopt to out-of-state homes; however, we require the potential adopters to come to our rescue to meet and ride the horse(s) they are interested in adopting. We are looking for good matches. We do not believe that a good match can be made without meeting and riding the horse in person.
Saturday, February 15, 2025; Saturday, March 1, 2025; Saturday, March 22, 2025; Saturday, April 5, 2025 & April 12, 2025.

CharmingCharming has successfully completed four LD rides, two of which were back to back riding days at the Mojave XP ride. The third LD was a 35-mile ride at the 20-Mule ride in Ridgecrest. His fourth LD ride was at Laurel Mountain, where he finished Top-Ten, in 9th place.
He has been doing really well in his training. We rescued him with a group of four other stallions during Christmas 2022, when his owner died. He is Alkhamsa bred, but the owner never registered him or the other three stallions. Charming is level-headed, sweet and willing. He is on trail now, and we see him as trail, LD or endurance horse (with conditioning). Charming lives in a large paddock with three other geldings. Name: Charming Gender: Gelding Breed: Arabian Age: 2016 (8 years old) Height: 14.3h Color: Grey Rider Level: Intermediate (once his training is complete) As with all of our horses, Charming is current on his immunizations, worming, teeth floating and farrier work. Follow the horse's progress, see more photos and videos, by entering her hashtag into Facebook's search box: #LTHCharming Adoption fee $4,250.00 ~ if you are interested in adopting, please send us an email at [email protected] or message us on social media with your email address for an adoption application. |
zayn - monarqeMeet Zayn, his registered name is MONARQE and his great-grandfathers are EL SHAKLAN, VERSACE, BASKE AFIRE, and MAGNUM PSYCHE.
Zayn is nine years old and 14.3h tall. His prior owner could not ride him anymore and relinquished him to us, to find him a good trail riding/LD riding home. She also wants to keep in contact with his future adopter. We are going to put trail miles on Zayn and will have a more in depth take on him, with additional time in the saddle. He is super cute and sweet. He likes being around the other horses. Name: Zayn - MONARQE Gender: Gelding Breed: Arabian Age: 8 years old Height: 14.3h Color: Gray Rider Level: Intermediate As with all of our horses, Zayn is UTD with his immunizations, teeth floating and farrier work. He currently wears shoes on the front, but he can go barefoot with boots. Follow the horse's progress, see more photos and videos, by entering his hashtag into Facebook's search box: #LTHZayn Adoption fee $3,850.00 ~ if you are interested in adopting, please send us an email at [email protected] or message us on social media with your email address for an adoption application. |
FlynnFlynn is a half-Arabian/half-QH gelding who loves live in the paddock with his buddies. He is a very social horse and loves carrots.
At time of rescue, Flynn was very green, and we are in the process of refining him in the arena and we are putting trail miles on him. He definitely has an Arabian head, but his body is all QH. He is a sturdy guy and once he loses his winter hair and slicks out, he is going to be very handsome! Name: Flynn Gender: Gelding Breed: Arabian/QH Age: 10 years old Height: 15h Color: Sorrel/Chestnut Rider Level: Intermediate (once his training is complete) As with all of our horses, Flynn is current on his immunizations, worming, teeth floating and farrier work. Flynn is barefoot. KristinaKristina is a Beautiful and stout little mare! She is 1/4 Arabian, 1/4 Appaloosa, 1/2 Paint. We rescued several mares from the same breeder who is in his mid-80s and couldn’t care for his horses anymore. Most, like Kristina ended up at auction.
We rescued Kristina and thought that she might be pregnant, but she is not. We had an internal exam and ultrasound done to pregnancy check her. Kristina is a nice riding mare and rides in the arena and out on trail. Kristina is UTD on her immunizations, worming, is healthy and sound. Kristina lives in a mixed herd of mares and geldings. Name: Kristina Gender: Mare Breed: 1/4 Arabian, 1/4 Appaloosa, 1/2 Pinto Age: 14 (2010) Height: 14.2h Color: ghost paint Rider Level: intermediate Follow Kristina’s progress, see more photos and videos, by entering her hashtag into Facebook's search box: #lthkristina Adoption fee $3,250 ~ if you are interested in adopting, please send us an email at [email protected] or message us on social media with your email address for an adoption application. |
adopted - Desert spiritDesert Spirit is started under saddle but he is not quite available for adoption yet. He may be adopted under our “Dibs Program”. This means that a potential adopter can meet and decide to adopt him, with us finishing up his saddle training before he goes to his new home.
We rescued Desert Spirit's dam Brandy (Khemosabi bloodline Arabian) from auction in June 2020, highly bred. Desert Spirit was born in our care on June 22, 2020. We have a photo of his sire, and the owner of the sire told us that he is a Kiger Mustang. (He is a mustang for sure, but some people who are familiar with Kiger Mustangs told us that he does not look like a Kiger.) We are working on finishing Desert Spirit, as we want him to be a solid riding horse before he gets adopted. Gender: Gelding Breed: Arabian/Mustang Age: 2020 (turning 5 this year) Height: 15.3/16h Color: Chestnut Rider Level: intermediate (once he is done with his training) As with all of our horses, Desert Spirit is current on his immunizations, worming, teeth floating and farrier work. He is barefoot. Follow his progress, see more photos and videos, by entering his hashtag into Facebook's search box: #LTHDesertSpirit Adoption fee $3,850 ~ if you are interested in adopting, please send us an email at [email protected] or message us on social media with your email address for an adoption application. |
oopsieOopsie is a gorgeous and sweet half-Arabian mare. She is a really good trail horse and is very kind. She had been adopted to a lady who spoiled her, but had to return her to us when she became too ill to care for Oopsie. She loves being out on trail.
Oopsie is very smooth and the most common comment is: "She is a smooth as a couch." She is not gaited, but we suspect that the other half was a gaited horse. Oopsie is a "ghost paint" meaning that her coat is white, but her skin is black and white. In the summer or when she is wet, you can see her paint coloring. In the winter, when her coat is thicker, she looks solid white. Name: Oopsie Gender: Mare Breed: Half-Arabian Age: 14 (2011) Height: 15h Color: Ghost Paint Rider Level: Confident Beginner/Early Intermediate As with all of our horses, Oopsie is current on her immunizations, worming, teeth floating and farrier work. She prefers to be ridden bitless. Follow her progress, see more photos and videos, by entering her hashtag into Facebook's search box: #LTHOopsie Adoption fee $3,450 ~ if you are interested in adopting, please send us an email at [email protected] or message us on social media with your email address for an adoption application. |
phoenix risingPhoenix Rising is a very sweet National Show Horse (half-Arabian/half-Saddlebred) gelding. He came to us skinny, but he has been gaining weight nicely and we are working on conditioning him and building up his muscle tone.
We see endurance riding potential in Phoenix Rising because his love for trail riding and his build, he has nice legs and big dishy solid feet. He has a sweet calm disposition. Phoenix Rising loads and unloads trailers easily, stands tied to the trailer and hangs out. Reid gets along well with other horses and lives in a pasture setting. Name: Phoenix Rising Gender: Gelding Breed: National Show Horse (Arabian/Saddlbred) Age: 2018 (7 years old) Height: 16 hands Color: Chestnut (Rabicano) Rider Level: Intermediate As with all of our horses, Phoenix Rising is current on his immunizations, worming, teeth floating and farrier work. Follow Phoenix Rising’s trail riding adventures, see more photos and videos, by entering his hashtag into Facebook's search box: #LTHPhoenixRising Adoption fee $3,450.00 ~ if you are interested in adopting, please send us an email at [email protected] or message us on social media with your email address for an adoption application. |

DaisyDaisy used to be a family horse that belonged to an older man. She lived in his 20 acre back-yard and the grandkids would come over and ride her all over the property. Daisy is very sweet, loves going on trail and loves attention. She is a half-Arabian Ghost Paint. Her skin is black and white. During the summer or when she is wet, you can see that she is a paint horse under her white coat of hair.
Daisy would be a great children's riding horse, with a family that has horse experience and likes to go trail riding, she does not like arena riding. She needs a rider who weights under 100 pounds because she is so small. Name: Daisy Gender: Mare Breed: Half-Arabian Ghost Paint Age: 2013 (12years old) Height: 13.2h Color: black & white skin, with white coat Rider Level: Beginner friendly Daisy is current on her immunizations, farrier work, worming and teeth floating. You can follow her posts and progress via her hashtag: #lthdaisy Adoption fee $2,250.00 ~ if you are interested in adopting, please send us an email at [email protected] or message us on social media with your email address for an adoption application. |
Dixie DawnDixie Dawn is a half-Arabian/half-QH Pony mare. She is an easy keeper and gets along well with other horses in a pasture setting. When we first rescued her in 2023, we named her Dawn, but eventually changed her name to Dixie, in the end we decided that her name should be Dixie Dawn.
We had her in turn out for almost two years because we felt that she needed time to be a horse. When we rescued her, she had just gone through auction and had had a colt weaned off her. Dixie Dawn was traumatized and really did not want much to do with people. She really was in survival mode. Dixie Dawn has really come around since that time and we are glad that we gave her that time off. We are riding her in the arena and on trail. She has a little bit of a stubborn streak, which we attribute to her QH Pony side. But, she takes things in stride and is quiet horse. Name: Dixie Dawn Gender: Mare Breed: Arabian/QH Pony Age: 2015 (10 years old) Height: 14h Color: Dark Bay Rider Level: Intermediate As with all of our horses, Dixie Dawn is current on her immunizations, worming, teeth floating and farrier work. Follow Dixie Dawn’s progress, see more photos and videos, by entering his hashtag into Facebook's search box: #LTHDixie There are some older posts under the #LTHDawn hashtags as well. Adoption fee $3,450.00 ~ if you are interested in adopting, please send us an email at [email protected] or message us on social media with your email address for an adoption application. |
Black DiamondBlack Diamond is an easy going riding mare, in the arena and on trail. She does prefers trail to arena. She is well trained and listens, but she still has some pizzazz. Black Diamond has nice feet and clean legs. We would love to find a trail riding home for her.
We have submitted her DNA to the Arabian Horse Association to find her registration information. She is a beautiful black Arabian mare. Name: Black Diamond Gender: mare Breed: Arabian Age: 15 years old Height: 15h Color: black Rider Level: advanced beginner/early intermediate Black Diamond is current on her immunizations, worming and farrier work. You can follow her posts and progress via her hashtag: #LTHblackdiamond (please note that we had another black Arabian mare with the same name, they are not the same horse.) Adoption fee $3,250.00 ~ if you are interested in adopting, please send us an email at [email protected] or message us on social media with your email address for an adoption application. |

AdolisAdolis is a three-year-old gelding who came to us as part of a law enforcement seizure of 8 stallions, plus a bunch of mares that went to another rescue. He has done well in his halter training and is willing to learn.
Adolis is the type of horse that when bonded with his person, he do anything for his person. We are really excited for Adolis’ future. He is NOT under saddle. We do not start horses until they are five years old. But we are offering future saddle training for his adopter. This means that whoever adopts Adolis now can bring him back to us to get him started. Name: Adolis Gender: gelding Breed: Arabian Age: 2021 (3 years old) Height: 14h (still growing) Color: Chestnut Rider Level: N/A Adolis is up to date with his immunizations, worming, farrier work.
